On International Workers’ Day, a coalition of immigrant rights advocates, workers, and community organizations mobilized in Houston to demand justice, dignity, and protection for all immigrants. The Houston community is rising up in response to increasing collaboration between the Houston Police Department and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and to denounce city leadership’s support for figures and policies that target and harm immigrants. We want:
- End local entanglement with ICE
- Expand protections to our immigrant community using city resources
- Ensure accountability and transparency of HPD and any other city agencies working with, providing data to, or collaborating with ICE.
